Voting systems

If you would like to know about some of the different voting systems available, try these descriptions we've created, based around short videos by C.G.P. Grey. All the examples we have given of countries that use the proportional electoral systems are ranked higher than the UK on the Economist's Democracy Index

Mixed Member Proportional and Single Transferable Vote are two examples of Proportional Representation (PR) systems that the UK could use instead, which would return governments that fairly represent the people, maintain a constituency link, and are easy for anybody to understand and use. There are many other proportional voting systems available. Party List Voting is the most commonly used type of PR in the world.
