Workshop: speaking up for PR in the Labour Party

  • George Fox Room, Quaker Meeting House 22 School Lane Liverpool, England, L1 3BT United Kingdom (map)

More and more Constituency Labour Parties have been passing motions calling for Proportional Representation. But to win this vital change, we need to see even more calls from CLPs across the country in the next few months.

Make Votes Matter and the Labour Campaign for Electoral Reform have been running a campaign to provide speakers on PR to local parties - leading to dozens of motions in favour of change.

Whether you want to volunteer to speak at other CLPs in your region, or whether you just want to put forward a motion to your own local branch, this workshop aims to get Labour members confident about making the case for Proportional Representation.

The workshop will cover:

  • The strategy of the campaign

  • Why First Past the Post is failing Labour

  • How Proportional Representation would help - and how it would work!

  • Common objections you may encounter

  • How to approach a meeting

Light lunch will be provided to attendees. We hope to see you there!
