Electoral Reform and Voter Engagement

  • Council Chamber, Bristol City Hall, College Green, Bristol, BS1 5TR (map)

Join us in Bristol City Hall for this special event as part of Local Democracy Week. Co-founders of Make Votes Matter and Bristol locals Klina Jordan and Joe Sousek will give a talk about how reforming the voting system can bring democracy closer to home.

The talk will focus on how First Past the Post severs electoral outcomes from the votes we cast, disengages voters from the democratic process, and even leads to poorer decision-making and outcomes. Proportional Representation, on the other hand, gives every vote real value and leads to policy reflecting the preferences of the people.

Following the event we'll invite attendees for a drink and an informal discussion about how to secure this vital advancement to democracy in the UK.
