Bridgwater and West Somerset Meeting to Make Votes Matter

  • West Bow House West Street Bridgwater, England, TA6 3RT United Kingdom (map)

Co-facilitator of Make Votes Matter, Klina Jordan, will give an update to attendees about the national, cross-party campaign working to introduce Proportional Representation to the House of Commons by 2021. She will then facilitate a discussion about how best to take action together locally to contribute to the grassroots movement for PR that is rapidly growing, both nationally and internationally. What do you think about the current state of 'representation' our government provides? What might you like to do to get real democracy?

This comes a week after Parliament narrowly defeated a motion by Caroline Lucas MP to introduce a Bill for PR, in the context of rapidly growing support for electoral reform within the Labour Party and even signs that some Conservatives are starting to accept that the system is grossly unfair and needs to change.

The event will follow the Bridgwater and West Somerset Green Party AGM. All are welcome to join and participate from 8pm, regardless of party affiliation.

West Bow House is just behind the Squib pub – if directions are needed please ask Allan Jeffery on 01278 425451.

With thanks from Make Votes Matter to Jamie Robertson for proposing and organising the event.
